This one day conference will touch on major themes in Newman's life and intellectual work: development of doctrine in the life of the Church, religious assent in a secular era, the nature of the university, and the relationship between conscience and truth. With the aid of Newman scholars and contemporary theological voices, we will hear about these themes and see why Newman is recognised as a prophetic figure in a format that is both profound and accessible.
